![]() ![]() The heel is a bit more snug, which combined with the additional padding helps lock my foot in well in the rear. This did not bother me at all due to the padding at the heel counter and the fact that it only comes up about 1/2 to 3/4 height. This does a decent job of holding the tongue and I had no slippage. The tongue is fairly wide and is gusseted with a strip in the posterior midfoot. There is also some flexibility there, so expect the forefoot to stretch with time. ![]() The mesh is very comfortable and fairly breathable. This was noticeable initially, but broke in with some flexibility within a few miles. The forefoot in particular tapers, especially on the lateral side. The fit width wise is slightly snug, although somewhat unstructured in the midfoot and forefoot. Matt: The Saucony Axon fits me true to size in my normal men's US size 10. This shoe lacks some of the glamour of the Endorphin Shift, but still delivers an enjoyable and protective ride and can function for many types of runs. The Axon, a component of the nerve that helps transmit electrical signal, is an offshoot of the Endorphin series with clear inspiration from the Endorphin Shift. Nathan: In the world of an increasing amount (thankfully) of quality "budget trainers", Saucony comes in with their own unique option, the higher stack, rockered Axon. The shoe only comes in at $100 US and for the right runner is probably worth much more than that. ![]() There is a little bit reinforcement in the outsole and midsole due to a plastic guiderail on the medial and lateral aspect of the midfoot that creates some inherent rigidity and stability for those that may need some light stability elements. A great entry level shoe for those who want to experiment with a max stack shoe without breaking the bank, the Saucony Axons delivers a ride above its price point.ĭavid: The Saucony Axon is a high stack neutral training shoe that features a rockered sole and a fairly firm ride. The upper fits snug, with few reinforcements, but opens with time. The rocker is noticeable, but combined with some sidewalls and other features create a uniquely stable ride. Inspired by the Endorphin series, the Axon features full length PWRRUN in the midsole for a firmer but responsive ride. It was too cold to go barefoot and I had a hell of a time walking home in those things with just one heel.Matt: One of the rare max cushion $100 shoes, the Saucony Axon is a high stack and rockered shoe. When I finally decided to walk home, I turned my ankle in some loose gravel on the shoulder of the road and my heel broke clean off. A lot of the people were partying in the yard instead of inside and I walked around the uneven ground in the dark in those shoes. I thought it was a little more of a rock and roll look. I usually wore them with the high waisted, long flare leg pants, but I once went to a party and decided to dress them down with a pair of straight legged Levi's jeans. A girl at school asked why someone as tall as I was would buy shoes to make themselves even taller. The first day I wore them to school, I went into the bathroom to comb my hair and all I could see in the mirror was from my chin down. They were really expensive, but were quality shoes with nice soft leather and a contrasting diamond pattern on the toes. ![]() I was already over 6 foot tall and these had some really big heels and platforms. I bought a pair of Men's platform shoes in the early 70s. ![]()
